Hey Google AI Studio folks!
I use Google AI Studio quite a bit, and there’s one small issue that’s been bugging me: the “Clear chat” button is way too close to the “Run” button! It’s super easy to accidentally click it, and then poof, your chat history is gone!
I think it would be much better if we could either relocate the “Clear chat” button or add an “Undo” feature.
Here are my thoughts:
1. Relocate the button:
- Top-right or top-left corner: These spots are usually good for less frequently used or “dangerous” buttons.
- Inside the settings menu: Hiding it in the settings menu would also make it less prone to accidental clicks.
- At the end of the toolbar: Keeping it away from other buttons would help.
2. Add an “Undo” feature:
- After clicking “Clear chat”, how about not deleting it immediately? Maybe keep the chat history temporarily for like 15 seconds?
- Then, show an “Undo” button with a 15-second countdown. If you regret it, you can click it, and your chat history is saved!
- If the 15 seconds pass without clicking “Undo,” then it’s permanently deleted. What do you think?
Why I think this is better:
- It’s way too easy to misclick right now, especially if you’re going fast or using a touchscreen.
- “Clear chat” is a “big deal” button. Clicking it accidentally is a real pain!
- Moving it or adding an “Undo” would make things much safer!
- Having an “Undo” would give us peace of mind.
Ideally, we’d have both:
- Move the “Clear chat” button to a safer spot.
- Add a 15-second “Undo” feature.
That would be perfect!
I hope the Google AI Studio team will consider my suggestions! Let’s make AI Studio even better!
What do you all think? Anyone else feel the same way? Let’s discuss!
