I use Gemini Code Assist Standard license that is now bundled with Google AI Pro subscription. I am using it to chat with Gemini 3 Pro in VS Code, in Gemini CLI, as well as in Jetbrains IDEs like PyCharm. But, to chat with Gemini 3 Pro in Gemini in Android Studio, it is asking me to have a Gemini API key. Why can’t I just use the Gemini Code Assist Standard license in Android Studio as well?
did you manage to find a solution? having the same issue. wondering if i need to create a project with billing enabled but it just cost me $50 last month even with pro subscription. said it was billed seperatly
No, I have not found an answer.
But, it turns out Gemini Code Assist license bundled with Google AI Pro/Ultra subscription gives the user higher access to Gemini models, but it is not the same as Gemini Code Assist Standard license.
So, access to Gemini 3 Pro is not guaranteed.
Also, it turns out, Android Studio currently do not support Gemini Code Assist for Individuals with Google AI Pro/Ultra subscription. They are in the process of granting access, only now.
