Body:
Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue where my Google AI Pro subscription appears active in Android Studio, but I cannot use the Pro model at all (chat, Agent mode — same result).
Environment
- Google account: r…@gmail.com
- Android Studio version: [Android Studio Quail 1 | 2026.1.1 Patch 2]
- OS: Windows 10/11
- Subscription: Google AI Pro (shown as active in Plan & Quotas)
What I see in Settings
In Settings → Tools → AI → Gemini → Plan & Quotas:
- Current plan: AI Pro

- Gemini Ai Pro: 0% used, 100% remaining (resets in ~23 hours)
- Gemini Ai Flash Preview: ~3% used, 96% remaining
So the subscription and quota UI look correct.
The problem
Despite the above, I cannot use Pro in practice:
- Pro model is missing from the model dropdown
- Pro model is grayed out / not selectable
- Selecting Pro fails immediately with an error
What I’ve tried
- Verified I’m logged in with the same account as my AI Pro subscription
- Checked Manage Models → Gemini tab — shows
Current plan: AI Pro - Removed any API key under Manage Models → Google AI Studio tab (to avoid free-tier key override)
- Restarted Android Studio and clicked Refresh on Plan & Quotas
- Started a new chat instead of continuing an old conversation
Questions
- Is Gemini 1.5 Pro still supported in Android Studio? The quota page still lists it, but I’ve read it may have been shut down — should AI Pro users be routed to Gemini 3.x Pro instead?
- Is there a known issue where Plan & Quotas shows available Pro quota but requests still fail or Pro is unavailable?
- Do I need to manually claim Google Developer Program Premium for Pro models to work in Android Studio, even when AI Pro is already shown in the IDE?
- Is Android Studio Otter (or a specific minimum version) required for Google One AI Pro integration?

Any help or official guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
