Hello Google AI Developers team,
I am preparing to launch RizzFlow, a premium, 18+ consumer-facing dating-chat assistant for Android users in the United States and other international markets.
Our planned architecture uses the Gemini Developer API through Supabase Edge Functions. Users can submit dating-chat screenshots, and the service analyzes the conversation to generate an interest score, suggested replies, and match insights. The app is designed exclusively for adults aged 18 and older.
Before launching, I need clarification about the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service, effective March 23, 2026, particularly this restriction:
“Use of Google AI Studio and Gemini API is for developers building with Google AI models for professional or business purposes, not for consumer use.”
Could you please help clarify the following?
-
Is RizzFlow’s described use case permitted under the current Gemini API terms, given that the developer operates a commercial service but the AI features are used directly by individual consumers?
-
Does using the paid Gemini API service change the answer about permitted use, or does it only affect billing and data-handling conditions?
-
Is there an approved Google product, commercial agreement, or application process that would permit this type of consumer-facing use case if it is not covered by the standard terms?
-
Could this question be referred to the team responsible for interpreting these terms, or could you provide the appropriate official contact channel?
We intend to review the applicable terms, privacy, data-handling, and age requirements before enabling the service for real users. We are seeking clarification before launch and are not asking for an exception to any policy without approval.
