Request for Account Review: Restricted to AQ. Tokens / Requesting AIza Key Restoration

Hi Google Team,

My personal account has been automatically restricted to generating “AQ.” prefix keys instead of standard functional API keys. Because of this, every request to the generativelanguage.googleapis.com endpoint fails with a 401 UNAUTHENTICATED (ACCESS_TOKEN_TYPE_UNSUPPORTED) error, even when using the raw cURL snippet straight from AI Studio.

  • Error Context: 401 ACCESS_TOKEN_TYPE_UNSUPPORTED
  • Current Key State: I have deleted all active AQ. keys on my project. There are zero exposed keys.

Can a forum administrator please route this to the engineering/billing support team to clear the false-positive flag and restore standard key generation for my account? Thank you!

We are moving away from Traffic keys (Alza) and towards a more secure Authentication Key (AQ). AI Studio will now only generate Authentication Key (AQ) keys. More information on key usage can be found in the Using Gemini API keys documentation.

Please submit any compatibility issues with services / SDKs etc. in this form for our engineering team to review. Thanks!
