Account restricted to AQ. keys —..... requesting AIza key restoration

Hello Google AI Developer Support Team,

My account can only generate AQ. prefix API keys in Google AI Studio.
All newly created keys — including in brand-new projects and even a
brand-new Google account — start with “AQ.” instead of the standard “AIza” format.

When used with the generativelanguage.googleapis.com endpoint, these AQ. keys
fail with a 401 error (“Expected OAuth 2 access token…”).

  • I have not had any key leaks or security incidents that I am aware of.

I believe my account may have been incorrectly flagged by the automated system.
I’m a non-technical builder working on a personal project and need a standard
AIza key to use the Gemini API. Could you please review my account and restore
the ability to generate AIza keys? Thank you.

We are moving away from Traffic keys (Alza) and towards a more secure Authentication Key (AQ). AI Studio will now only generate Authentication Key (AQ) keys. More information on key usage can be found in the Using Gemini API keys documentation.
