Request: Allowlist Access for Gemini 3.1 Fine-Tuning on Vertex AI (Google for Startups Member)

Hi team,

I’m the founder of TypeScience, an AI personality-classification platform, and a current Google for Startups Cloud Program member.

We’re actively building on Vertex AI and have already completed a supervised fine-tuning run on Gemini 2.5 Flash using our own labeled multimodal dataset and structured JSON outputs. Our pipeline, evaluation setup, and cloud environment are already in place, and we are continuing to iterate on model quality.

I’m reaching out to ask whether Gemini 3.1 fine-tuning on Vertex AI is currently available through a preview, allowlist, or any limited-access path for startups already building on Vertex AI.

Our use case is a domain-specific multimodal classification workflow with nuanced behavioral labels, and we’d like to evaluate whether access to Gemini 3.1 tuning could materially improve performance relative to our current tuned Gemini 2.5 baseline.

If there is a specific application process, allowlist path, or team we should contact for this, I’d really appreciate the guidance.

Thanks,
Austin

+1 on this request.

I’m in a similar situation — running supervised fine-tuned Gemini 2.5 Pro endpoints on Vertex AI for a Korean-language document editing service.

With gemini-2.5-pro discontinuation scheduled, having a clear migration path to Gemini 3.x fine-tuning would be very helpful for production planning.

Even a rough timeline for when supervised fine-tuning will be available on Gemini 3.1 Pro (or any 3.x model) would go a long way.

Otherwise, I’ll have to start the painful process of exploring and migrating to entirely different platforms & models for fine-tuning.

+1 here - really don’t understand how we’re supposed to migrate off 2.5 with 3.1 fine tuning
