"rd" error, and rate limit error in aistudio

I had the problem of ‘rd’ showing up where ever I try to upload files or use files from my google drive about 5 or 6 days ago, then it “resolved” itself. after that it kept saying i’ve reached my rate limit even though I haven’t been able to use it since the “rd” error. today makes day 3 that I’m getting the rate limit message even though I’m unable to use it

This issue appears to come from a temporary disruption in AI Studio’s file handling or the authentication layers, especially involving the Google Drive integration, which can also trigger residual limits.

Recommended actions:

  1. Clear site data/cache for AI Studio:
    Go to chrome://settings/siteData → search aistudio.google.com → clear cookies/cache. Then reload AI Studio.
  2. Disconnect and reauthorize Google Drive:
    In AI Studio, go to settings → unlink Google Drive → re-link it. This can resolve stale authorization tokens causing “rd” errors.
  3. Wait for rate limit cooldown:
    AI Studio enforces soft rate limits across usage sessions. Even failed upload attempts may count. Wait 24–72 hours for automatic reset.
