People's Choice Award + Gemini API/Firebase costs

Hello,

I’m from Romania, Europe and we don’t have Gemini API for free here, so I had to go on a paid tier. Same goes for Firebase (went on Blaze plan) as I needed Google Cloud integration into my app. What I want to ask is:

  1. Does Google only test the app by themselves (only the Jury panel) or should I expect this code to be tested by more than say 10 people / day? I want for the Firebase costs to remain $0 or at least under $10 a month, because I don’t have money to spend on these services at all.
  2. People’s Choice Award → do people vote entries based on video alone or also code? I mean, are people expected to actually test the app before voting? Asking because again, this would incur a lot of costs that I simply cannot afford.

I would appreciate a lot if someone from Google would be able to answer my questions.

Hi,
I am also from europe and had those questions as well. So not the one about firebase, because I did write code my own backend. no costs here.

I mean I can not make my app public with free Gemini AI tier not available here in Germany.

This message is basically to push the topic. I think there are many other teams with this issue as well. your are not alone @espresso_nightingale

Hey thanks for tagging me in this thread! The app will only be tested by the judging panel and the testing will likely only be done by one or two people.
