Need workspace snapshot restore (Data Loss / Context Truncation)

Hello AI Studio Team,

My project workspace suffered severe context truncation where large chunks of production code were overwritten by the model, and the conversation/checkpoint history prior to September is missing from my UI.

I have submitted in-app feedback multiple times over the past weeks with no reply. Could an engineer please pull the backend workspace snapshot from mid-late December 2025?

Thank you for your help in restoring this project.

Check your version history by going to settings, activating “Versions” button. Scroll down your version history, and find a desired snapshot. If you have so many of these choices, keep scrolling, until you found the snapshot in question.

Activate the “Restore Version” button. You need to wait for a while as your app gets restored.

Common reasons your code is overridden without your request are the following:

  1. Lack of agents.md file: If ANY of your folders contain code files that shouldn’t been truncated/stubbed; ask Gemini to implement this system. Its strongly recommended to ensure each folder (including subfolders) have an agents.md file inside. Also, you need to ensure you request these files with a meaningful purpose.
  2. There’s no .watermark and .integrity.json files inside: You need these files to preserve integrity of your files within your code base. You need to request Gemini to implement these files per each folder and subfolders as a way to ensure you harden security for your code.
  3. There’s no PROTECTIONS_NOTICES.md file present: You need to request Gemini to implement this file with a meaningful purpose. This is key to ensure your code base is kept track, and ensure automated systems won’t prune your entire code base.
  4. You did NOT have Sentinel Integrity System implemented: If you want this to be implemented, you need to ask Gemini to implement Sentinel Integrity System to ensure your code base integrity is kept in check. You need to specifically ask Gemini for this system with a meaningful purpose.

If you successfully got your app restored via a snapshot. Its strongly recommended to have a backup of your source code by activating the “Code” toggle, and downloading the zip folder of your code base.

Fact: Automated processes that are stocastic often perform unsolicited refactoring, causing your app to break! Pruning, deletions, and other malicious automated processes inside your dev server via Google AI Studio relies on assumptions, and pseudoscience. This “corner-cutting” system is a known issue that is a REAL nightmare for users who use Google AI Studio, and I got this experience when building apps/games.

Thanks for the tips—they might help someone else. Those were actually the first steps I tried, but there is no history available. Although the current project is intact, it is severely truncated to the point that it no longer works.

Fortunately, once I noticed it was refactoring and truncating the code, I started exporting ZIP files, so I managed to find a working version from a few builds back. I wasn’t aware of the Sentinel Integrity System, so I will look into that.

Moving forward, I have switched to Antigravity for all my coding, and I wouldn’t recommend using AI Studio for anything beyond simple applications.

Got a URL of your app for me to look at? A link to your app is very important, so I can take a closer look.
