All of my project files and code were previously present, but now when I open the project, the files and code are missing. I did not intentionally delete them. Try using the version history to restore the code.
Fact: When your code is idle, and not currently being updated, and you are about to update your app… some of these code files and folders are either stubbed, deleted, pruned, omitted, or even refactored without asking a user. This is a sign of your code files and folders (including intentionally-crafted code) susceptible to damage.
Here’s what I’ve did as I ensure my code base is preserved:
Asked Gemini to implement .watermark, .integrity.json, and agents.md file to each folder, subfolders, and root of src/, and other folders. Also, I ask Gemini to implement Sentinel Integrity System to ensure the integrity of the code is left intact. I also asked Gemini to implement PROTECTIONS_NOTICES.md file with meaningful notices that are meaningful.
Interestingly: I did a further analysis as I ask Gemini to update parts of my game/app… automated processes via dev servers are notorious of breaking code by pruning folders, files, etc, damaging your game/app. This form of pseudoscience has been running. Automated refactoring doesn’t improve code, but break it because, automated processes rely on assumptions and stocastic unsolicited stubbing/deletion/omittion/simplifications that aren’t meaningful. This is not a true way how a dev server via AI Studio By Google is used for. I’ve also uncovered why your entire code can be deleted during booting of your app. This act of “cutting corners” is a known issue, and its a REAL nightmare for app/game developers.
What I didn’t realized, having a backup of your source code is very important! That enables you to get back to developing your app in minutes, depending on a size of your game/app.
Also, using the “Copy App” button is very important to ensure you have an app available as a stable copy.
