I am a professional System Integrator and I pay the full global price for this subscription specifically to access the developer ecosystem powered by Gemini 3 Pro. However, solely because my location is Republic of Moldova, I am receiving a stripped-down version of the service.
The Issue:
Despite paying for the Google AI Pro tier, I am geo-blocked from the critical tools that define this plan’s value in other regions:
Google Antigravity (https://antigravity.google/) – Access Denied. I cannot use the agent-first IDE capabilities essential for my workflows.
Jules (https://jules.google/) – Access Denied. I am blocked from using the autonomous coding agent features (CLI & IDE integration).
Current Status:
The only feature available to me is the standard web chat interface at https://gemini.google.com/.
I am effectively paying a “Pro” price for a basic consumer “Plus” experience. As an integrator managing complex systems, I require the Pro/Ultra level ecosystem (Agentic workflows, CI/CD integration, Antigravity environment), not just a chatbot.
My Request:
Whitelist Moldova for full Developer Access immediately. There are no legal restrictions preventing this, as neighboring regions (Romania, Ukraine) are supported.
Pricing Adjustment: If you cannot provide access to Antigravity and Jules, please lower the subscription cost for our region. Charging full price while withholding the primary professional tools is commercially unfair.
We need a clear timeline for when these artificial restrictions will be lifted for Moldova.
Additionally, please note that upgraded quotas through Google One are not currently available in all locations. We recommend referring to the full list of supported regions here to confirm availability in your area.
Subject: Re: Clarification needed — This is a Platform Availability & Business Impact Issue (Moldova)
I want to clarify: I do not have any issue with my subscription payment or billing.
My issue is that key Google AI developer tools are unavailable in the Republic of Moldova, despite active paid subscriptions.
Currently, the following tools are inaccessible in Moldova:
Google Antigravity — Moldova is missing from the supported countries list.
Subject: Request for a concrete timeline regarding Google AI Studio and Developer Tools access in Moldova
Vishal, thank you for the update regarding the expansion of Google AI Studio support to Moldova.
However, as a developer and a member of the local tech community, I must emphasize that we need more than just ‘soon.’ This issue has been ongoing for years, and the lack of clarity is making it impossible for us to plan our infrastructure and product development.
To help us make informed decisions about whether to stay with the Google ecosystem or commit to competitors, could you please provide specific answers to the following:
1. What is the estimated timeline? Does ‘soon’ mean within the next 2-4 weeks, or are we looking at a 3-6 month window?
2. Will all tools be unlocked simultaneously? We are specifically interested in whether Google AI Studio, Gemini API, Antigravity, and Jules will become available at the same time.
3. Why are paid subscribers still restricted? Many users in Moldova are already paying full price for AI Pro/Ultra subscriptions but are blocked from the professional developer environment. Is there a roadmap to fix this discrepancy?
For many of us, this is a platform-defining moment. While we wait for access, we are forced to integrate our systems with OpenAI and Anthropic, which are already fully functional in our region.
Hey @Rostislav_Mashnik - thanks for following up here. I totally understand the need for a firmer timeline. If I had to estimate, I’d say it’s on the order of weeks away, rather than months. Though that’s assuming nothing unexpected comes up while we work through this.
This will initially only be for Google AI Studio and the Gemini API.
Thank you so much for the clarity. I’m incredibly grateful to finally hear an estimated timeline.
I have one more follow-up question regarding the scope of this update. Along with Google AI Studio and the API, will this also grant full access to Google Antigravity and Gemini Code Assist (for Visual Studio Code) in my region? Since these tools rely on the same infrastructure, I want to make sure they are included in the upcoming rollout. Looking forward to your reply!
Just to provide additional context and real numbers, as a follow-up.
Over the past week, the projects I am responsible for have spent approximately $29,500 USD on external AI APIs (primarily OpenAI and Anthropic).
In early December, our average spend was closer to $100 per day, so the growth has been very rapid.
I would genuinely like to start using the Gemini API — I see strong potential in Gemini’s performance and speed, and it would be great to evaluate it under real production load. Unfortunately, regional restrictions currently make this impossible from Moldova.
Additionally, in early February, several of these projects will launch active marketing campaigns, which may increase API usage and costs by several times. Being able to use Gemini during this phase would help us provide a better service to users and would give Google meaningful real-world adoption data.
Just wanted to share these figures as context and motivation. Looking forward to any updates.
Greetings. What is the latest information regarding this matter? Furthermore, could you elucidate the rationale behind its relocation to a different thread? The primary issue at hand pertains to the Gemini API, with Antigravity merely representing a subsequent manifestation of this underlying error.
