Google has also updated their billing policy such that cloud credits (including $300 free trial and startup credits) will not be applied to usage in Google AI Studio anymore.
We are forced to go through Vertex AI to be able to use those credits, which makes our prototyping processes extremely difficult. Vertex AI doesn’t have the Build mode (“Vibe Coding”), is not as fast for multimodal latencies without Files API, and often experiences 429 RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED due to shared capacity limits.
I filed an official Issue Tracker ticket for it, and it seems like a Google product manager was assigned to the case today.
