AutoSaving broke for me 5 minutes ago: second time it has happened in the past few weeks. Unfortunately I didn’t realise it until I refreshed the page, so the chat is gone.

I’m intentionally not following ‘best practices’ of making new conversations because I have a QA and DevOps background. I want to see what the limitations of the tool are. As such, I have a conversation that is nearing the maximum token count. The workflow that I’ve tried to adopt is to have ai studio manage context of the project I’m working on, with google jules handling the code changes, and then having ai studio do code reviews for the changes. When providing the files for ai studio to do the code review, this bug occurred. Additionally, this bug appears to happen when a message stating an internal error occurred, and that saving the conversation failed because permission was denied. I was still able to continue the conversation but if I refresh the tab, I’m going to lose the context for everything that occurred afterwards
I have a hypothesis for what might be causing this problem. Some of the files that I tried to upload to have ai studio do a code review were files that I had uploaded previously. Given that it gave a permission denied error, maybe ai studio doesn’t have permission to overwrite files that already exist in google drive. It makes sense that we don’t want to overwrite files that already exist because in some cases, definitely in this case, it needs both copies of the file to do a code review. So it looks like AI studio needs to have a system that allows uploads of files with the same name. Maybe append the file with the epoch timestamp for when it was uploaded. ( edit: I asked AI studio about this hypothesis and it told me I was wrong )
Getting the same issue regularly. I was trying to figure out why there was no history on previous interactions, then noticed that it’s not saving with the spinning animiation.
My UI lags terribly - there is high latency - How do i export the json so that i can continue in another chat. My chat is at about 70k tokens
