It seems that I have a bug in AI Studio in combination with Google Drive.
Everytime I create a new prompt, a new folder gets created in Google Drive with the name “Google AI Studio” this folder contains the prompt or is sometimes empty (if I didn’t name to prompt or did)
The outcome is the same if “Autosaving” is enabled or disabled, everytime I open a new prompt a new folder is created.
Bunu Google AI Studıo ayarlardan düzenleme seçeneği olabilir. Dilerseniz ayarlar kısmından bir kontrol sağlayın veya bununla ilgili gemini’a sorabilirsiniz
Its buggy, basically AI studio stores your entire conversation with files uploaded in the “Google AI Studio” folder, but it creates a new folder for every new prompt. The most you can do is manually keep moving all the other folders into one. That way the chats seem to stay intact on AI studio. If you delete the folders the chats get deleted too.
Hey Users,
Sorry for addressing the issue late!
I can see only one folder is created as “Google AI Studio” and all the prompts are saved in this folder.
Could anyone confirm if the issue still persists so that I can escalate this to the engineering team.
Thank you!
I still see multiple “Google AI Studio” folders. My most recent use was 2 days ago. It’s annoying and preventing me from using AI Studio because I don’t need the headache of organizing these. Please help.
I currently have 361 Google AI Studio folders in my Drive. Is there any way to consolidate or clean them up without losing all my previous chats or context stacks?
I was hoping this had been fixed and that new folders would no longer be created… but, unfortunately, folder number 361 was just added today when I was testing a new system prompt for a policy bot.
My main question:
Most of these older folders haven’t been accessed since their creation date, even though I use some chats almost like production tools. Is it safe to assume these are just empty shells? Or is there any risk that deleting them could break access to the context or history for prompts I’ve spent months building (some with nearly 900k tokens worth of context)?
If anyone has a safe workflow or can confirm which folders can be deleted without risk, I’d be grateful!
I am experiencing the same issue. AI Studio is creating a new folder named “Google AI Studio” in the root of my Google Drive for nearly every action I take.
Most of these folders are empty, but some contain an applet_access_history.json file. This is causing significant clutter; at one point, I had to delete 57 empty folders at once.
Same here. I’ve been waiting for a fix, but have seen nothing yet. This is getting really annoying.. to the point where I’ve switched back to using OpenAI for most stuff.
It also seems to be VERY inconsistant as to what gets saved to these folders. Sometimes it’s a generated image or vides, sometimes it’s the prompt used, sometimes applet_access_history.json, often empty folders.
I’d be all about this if:
The folders actually contained prompts and output history of my sessions
I could folder the output somewhere besides my root directory
The way it’s implemented right now makes it seem like they are using the google drive for temp storage and not cleaning up afterwards.
This has driven me to the point of completely abandoning AI Studio now. In fact, I have stopped spending any money on Google AI tools entirely. Plenty of other options out there that don’t clog up my Google Drive with dozens, or even hundereds ot useless folders. At the very least, they should create a sub-folder for all of these and not drop them right in the top level My Drive folder.
Very disappointed in how this has been implemented and the issue ignored.
Same issues. I constantly need to delete duplicate Google AI Studio folders.
Some of them has conversation file which if you delete it, your chat will be lost.
I have the same issue. I just tried deleting all the folders and then using AI Studio. It’s still happening and now I’ve lost all my history (I knew would ahead of time)
