Hello.
I received an email on June 2, 2025 with the following which indicates the Gemini 1.5 models will be retired in Sept 2025.
the email advise me to migrate my affected models to Gemini 2.0 Flash or Gemini 2.0 Flash-Lite, but i don’t know the detailed operated steps of how to migrate. the email origin is as below:
Some Gemini 1.5 models are now discontinued.
We’re writing to remind you that the following models have reached their scheduled end-of-life and are now discontinued:
- Gemini 1.5 Pro 001
- Gemini 1.5 Flash 001
- All tuned versions of Gemini 1.5 Flash 001
Effective today, any attempts to access these models will result in an error.
On September 24, 2025, Gemini 1.5 Pro 002, Gemini 1.5 Flash 002, and Gemini 1.5 Flash-8B -001 will be discontinued and will start returning errors.
Note: If you are using “gemini-1.5-flash”
or “gemini-1.5-pro”
in your code, these aliases point to “-002”
, the latest stable model variant. Therefore, it will not be affected until September 24, 2025.
What you need to do
To avoid encountering errors in your models, we encourage you to migrate your affected models to[ Gemini 2.0 Flash ] before September 24, 2025.
