This is not exactly a bug, it’s mostly how the new quota system works now.
They added a weekly limit along with the usual 5-hour reset.
So even if your 5-hour quota resets, weekly quota can still be 0.
That’s why people are getting 6–7 day lock messages suddenly.
Also the new AI Credits option seems to drain usage very fast.
Some tasks can consume way more quota than normal prompts.
That’s why it feels like quota is disappearing instantly.
Fix: turn OFF AI Credits in settings if possible.
Or downgrade to older version without credits feature (temporary fix).
Otherwise you just have to wait for weekly reset or use lighter prompts.
How to Downgrade
You need to uninstall the current version, clear cache/config folders, and manually install a previous version
@Sudeepth_P but if you do this and install a previous version (which version btw?) you’re saying you’ll have the 5 hour refreshes yes? Are you 100% positive this will work? have you tested this? is it working?
It’s from their backend, installing the previous version won’t change the information about your limits status in their database or records. So, it won’t work because as soon as you login, your current status will reflect. Yes, I’ve tried, it didn’t change my limits status.
After reading all your replies and testing again, I want to clarify something.
The downgrade method I shared earlier is not a real fix. It only worked temporarily for me, but the issue came back again.
As some of you mentioned, quota is clearly handled from the server side, not just the local version. So changing versions doesn’t actually solve the core problem.
Also seeing new issues like:
- quota getting reduced without usage
- resets not behaving correctly
So this looks like a deeper backend issue, not something we can fully control from our side.

Sorry if my earlier post caused any confusion — I shared what worked at that moment, but now it’s clear it’s not reliable.

If anyone finds a real stable solution, please share.
And hope the Google team can clarify:
- how quota is calculated
- why it’s draining without usage in some cases
Thanks everyone for sharing your experience — this is clearly affecting many users.
I have suspicion this is not an error, its a change in behavior. I’ve had the problem last few weeks as well. I finally agreed to the button to enable AI overage and even though the models still show exhausted, I can work on “credits”. Seems they are quietly changing to a credit system. Since i’m on pro I found 1000 in my account.
This was posted by a google employee in another thread:
”To provide you with greater control and a seamless path to scale, we are evolving our Google AI plans by introducing built-in AI credits that can now be utilized directly within Antigravity.
Under this updated structure, our Google AI Pro tier is tailored for practical builders, offering generous limits for Gemini Flash alongside a baseline quota to experience our most advanced premium models. For developers operating at the highest scale who require consistent, high-volume access to our most complex models, Google AI Ultra serves as the ideal comprehensive solution.
Furthermore, we’ve designed these plans with maximum flexibility in mind; if you are on the Pro plan and require additional capacity or deeper premium access for intensive development sprints, you can seamlessly top up your AI credits to customize your limits and continue shipping your best work without interruption.”
