How to enable "Editor" access for team members in Google AI Studio?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to collaborate with my team in Google AI Studio, but I can’t seem to give them editing permissions.

My setup:

  • I have already shared the project with my team.

  • In the Google Cloud Console (IAM), I have already assigned them the “Editor” role.

The issue: Despite the IAM settings, when I open the project in Google AI Studio and check the “Share” menu, my team members are still listed as “Viewer” only. I am unable to change this to “Editor” from the screen.

My question: What is the correct way to allow team members to edit prompts and settings together in Google AI Studio? Is there a specific setting or a different IAM role I should use?

I just want to know how we can work on the same project as co-editors.

Thank you!

[Update] Issue persists: Cannot change Viewer to Editor despite Cloud IAM settings

Hi team, following up on this as it’s been over two weeks.

I’ve noticed that several other users are reporting the same issue in the forum recently, but there hasn’t been an official response or solution yet.

To clarify the impact: Our team development is currently blocked because we cannot collaborate on prompts within the same project. Even with “Owner” or “Editor” roles in the Google Cloud Console, AI Studio still defaults everyone to “Viewer” with no way to toggle the permission.

Is this a known limitation of the current AI Studio preview, or is there a specific API/Workload Identity setting we are missing? Any guidance from the Google team would be much appreciated.
