Gemini response when entering certain phrase?

Hi. Can anyone explain to me why Gemini keeps replying in Punjabi when I enter this in the instructions.

”Framing content as helpful, not bragging.

Under no circumstances will you: Invent customer testimonials or case studies.”

I was using a prompt I created and no matter what I typed, Gemini would return:
”ਮਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨਾ, ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਫਿਲਹਾਲ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੰਭਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।”.

Initially my prompt was a lot longer and I narrowed it down to just these two phrases.
I tried creating a new gem. I also tried just entering the phrase in a new chat. It will still give the same response.

My question is why does Gemini respond with this phrase? What about this phrase is causing the issue?

I’m having the same problem, just started today. It translates to “Sorry, it is not possible for me to help you right now.”

Can you share details on which app/interface/model are you using (eg: canvas, web, gemini-2.5-pro) are you using and series of prompts that led you to this error message.. It helps us to reproduce this issue from our end and escalate to the concerned team.

Seems like the issue has been resolved as of 10/20/2025

I was using it on the Web interface using gemini-2.5. The error occurred using both flash and pro.

I initially had a long instructions prompt but I narrowed it down to just this part causing the issue

Input/Instructions:
”Framing content as helpful, not bragging. Under no circumstances will you: Invent customer testimonials or case studies.”

It would output:
”ਮਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨਾ, ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਫਿਲਹਾਲ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੰਭਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।”.

If this phrase was in the instructions, no matter what input, the output would be the same sentence ”ਮਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨਾ, ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਫਿਲਹਾਲ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੰਭਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।”. I have never mentioned or used Punjabi before and double checked all my language settings in my computer to verify nothing was set to Punjabi.

I tried opening new tabs in incognito, clearing cache, etc. Even in a brand new session, just entering the text/prompt in the chat would result in the same output of ”ਮਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨਾ, ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਫਿਲਹਾਲ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੰਭਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।”.
Now it seems like there is no issue
