Gemini CLI – unusable for ordinary users: instant model downgrade and constant API errors

I’m using Gemini CLI as an ordinary user for very basic daily tasks (not a developer, just simple stuff). Almost every day, after just a handful of prompts—sometimes barely 7 or 10—I get a message saying the Gemini 2.5 Pro quota is used up and the system immediately downgrades me to Gemini Flash. All documentation I found says the quota should be much larger. On top of that, I get the error: ‘API Error: Model stream ended with empty response text.’ extremely frequently—often, nothing works the rest of the day once this happens. Even after logout, reboot, or trying small/easy prompts, the issue nearly always returns. Between instantly losing access to Pro and the constant API errors, Gemini CLI is impossible to use in any normal routine. If anyone knows why this happens or how to avoid it, please help—I just want a reliable tool for basic use! (System: Windows 11, current CLI via npm, Standard plan, never more than 20 prompts/day).
