Gemini API restricted stock exchange data

When I use the Gemini API 2.0 flash (and also 1.5 flash) via n8n in a workflow to analyse listed companies outside the US (here using the example of BAT on the London Stock Exchange), I get the response from the API: ‘Sorry, but I cannot perform an analysis for “LSE:BATS”. My access to financial data is limited to US stock exchanges. ’

However, when I use Gemini 2.0 in the AI Studio chat, the question ‘analyse the stock LSE:BATS’ is answered correctly and completely.

I have not found any information on this in the Google search.

So my question is, why is there this difference between the chat and the underlying API version of Gemini 2.0 and is there a way to access exchanges outside the US via the Gemini API version?

Hi @O_K , Welcome to the forum.

I checked from my end using the API, and it’s working as expected. Here is the gist file you can refer to.

The underlying model remains same whether you access the model from AI Studio or through the API. Have you tried utilizing the Google Search tool to see if it works?
