On 2026-09-18, Gemini 3.1 Pro disappeared from the AI Studio model selector. No announcement. Paid users are affected too. I tried cache, incognito, other browsers/devices — not fixed. Google One support gave generic steps, unrelated.
Please confirm: bug or planned deprecation?

This is honestly infuriating. 3.1 Pro was actually GOOD at coding. It could understand the project, make proper changes, and most importantly, it didn’t constantly destroy shit that was already working. Then you remove it from paying users and replace it with 3.8 Flash like that’s somehow an upgrade? It’s not even close.
You use 3.8 Flash a handful of times and suddenly you’re hitting the limit. Then it starts throwing “execution terminated due to error,” breaking working code, and sending you in circles trying to fix problems it literally created itself. And once you’re out of 3.8, you’re stuck going down to 3.7 Flash, then 3.6 and the weaker models, which just wastes even more time because they keep making the code worse.
What is the point of paying for the service if the model that actually gets serious coding work done is removed, the replacement has a ridiculously low limit, and then you’re forced onto models that can’t reliably handle the project?
This isn’t an upgrade. It’s a massive downgrade disguised as one, and it’s genuinely one of the most stupid, frustrating, and backwards decisions they could have made for people who actually use this thing for coding.
Think some type of lawsuit should be in place for this. Why am i paying for 3.1 pro and they removed it lol
Waiting a few days on a ticket from Google One support chat escalating it. It has been a week, is there really no statement at all from Google yet? What are we even paying for anymore? 3.8 limits are so harsh I can’t get anything done with it. I’m paying for a subscription that has completely taken away everything I use it for. It’s depressing to think the tool I’ve grown to love and use daily over the past year has become totally worthless, including the projects I’m currently building with it.
Your only option now is to sync to github and use other companies products to finish what you started with Gemini. Disappointment is an understatement.
Well i think its because of upcoming release of Gemini 4 Argon. Or google wants to torture us which is ringing the bell to migrate
