On 2026-09-18, Gemini 3.1 Pro disappeared from the AI Studio model selector. No announcement. Paid users are affected too. I tried cache, incognito, other browsers/devices — not fixed. Google One support gave generic steps, unrelated.

This is honestly infuriating. 3.1 Pro was actually GOOD at coding. It could understand the project, make proper changes, and most importantly, it didn’t constantly destroy shit that was already working. Then you remove it from paying users and replace it with 3.8 Flash like that’s somehow an upgrade? It’s not even close.
You use 3.8 Flash a handful of times and suddenly you’re hitting the limit. Then it starts throwing “execution terminated due to error,” breaking working code, and sending you in circles trying to fix problems it literally created itself. And once you’re out of 3.8, you’re stuck going down to 3.7 Flash, then 3.6 and the weaker models, which just wastes even more time because they keep making the code worse.
What is the point of paying for the service if the model that actually gets serious coding work done is removed, the replacement has a ridiculously low limit, and then you’re forced onto models that can’t reliably handle the project?
This isn’t an upgrade. It’s a massive downgrade disguised as one, and it’s genuinely one of the most stupid, frustrating, and backwards decisions they could have made for people who actually use this thing for coding.
