There is a growing concern regarding the lack of frequent updates and the presence of several unresolved persistent bugs in Google Antigravity, leading to an overall deterioration of the product. This is particularly noticeable when compared to the steady progress and improvements seen in Gemini CLI. Will Google Antigravity become a permanent product, or is it facing deprecation soon?
They need a rebrand, and consolidate Gemini CLI, Gemini VSC, Jules, AI Studio Build etc. into a single brand. Something like Gemini Code would go a long way. I am not sure if Antigravity is worth saving as a brand name, although Pichai did mention it in the latest earning calls.
The model is easy to fix. Their world intelligence and coding quality is high, their agentic ability is very low. Their model just don’t think long and hard enough, it is like a super smart kid who doesn’t try. Between family plans, free for students, free for pixel users, free for India . . . they just have too many users and had to nerf the think level across the board.
Next week Google I/O, Gemini Flash 3.2 (3.5) should make massive progress in this area. I would take an optimized Flash coding model I can use all day long over something that is 5-10% better than Opus/5.5 and can only use 1-2 hours per week.
