Critical Bug: Large AI Studio Projects are Unresponsive and Read-Only

Hello Google AI Team and community,

I am facing a critical issue that is completely blocking my project, which has an urgent deadline of November 15th. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Summary of the Problem.

Since October 29th, my three largest and most important projects in AI Studio have become completely unresponsive. I am unable to type or send any new prompts because the input field is disabled or missing. This issue only affects my largest projects (one is ~600k tokens); newly created projects work perfectly fine.

Key Details

Affected Projects: “Proyecto Integracion Boletin Digital”, “Web Development Assistance Needed”, and one other large project.

Timing: All projects were working correctly on October 28th and stopped working simultaneously on October 29th.

Impact: This is a critical blocker. The entire context and progress of my work are in these chats, and I cannot continue without them.

Troubleshooting Steps I Have Already Taken

I have confirmed this is not a local issue on my end. I have performed the following tests:

  1. Multiple Devices: The problem occurs on two different PCs and on my mobile device.
  2. Multiple Networks: The problem persists on my home Wi-Fi and on my cellular data network.
  3. Incognito Mode: The projects are still unresponsive in Incognito Mode, which rules out browser extensions being the root cause.

4. Developer Console: The console shows `Extension context invalidated` errors. However, since the issue also happens in Incognito Mode, I believe these are secondary symptoms of the page failing to load correctly, not the primary cause of the problem.

My Hypothesis

Based on all the evidence, this appears to be a server-side bug that was likely introduced around October 29th. It seems to affect large projects (possibly those over a certain token limit), causing them to enter a corrupted or “read-only” state.

Restoring access to these projects is essential for me to meet my deadline.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

same issues here with large chats.

I’ve found a temporary workaround for this issue: we’ll use keyboard shortcuts to send requests

Alt+Enter

The message is sent to the chat but doesn’t trigger a response, so it needs to be run manually.

—and then click on the logo to re-run [run the prompt] the stars.
