When Claude Opus 4.7 and Opus 4.7 Thinking ?

Claude Opus 4.6 had its output token limit cut from 128k to 64k, so I’m guessing they might release Opus 4.7 soon, maybe even today. Honestly, this feels like a dumb attempt to reduce costs, but it probably does the opposite. Opus writes everything out, hits the limit, fails a few times, and then ends up rewriting it in a compressed version or splitting it into parts. That likely burns way more tokens than just letting it finish properly in the first place. So it ends up costing both the user and the company more. I really don’t know what they’re trying to do here.
