I have several google accounts, but only one has an AI subscription. I log in using that account and AI works, but after some time and for no reason Antigravity switches to a different account and then quickly runs out of the free tier before telling me it cannot continue. I have to log out of that second account and then log in again on the main one. Probably did that 10 times yesterday, making everything incredibly frustrating.
(I have two account on Claude too but that never misbehaves)
Hi @hotbelgo,
Antigravity shouldn’t be switching your active Google account on its own—once it flips to a secondary free-tier account, hitting the weekly free quota limit right away is expected, but the account switch itself is a bug.
Since you’ve already been logging out and back into your paid account repeatedly, you don’t need to keep doing that as a troubleshooting step. To help us narrow down why the session is switching and get this routed to the right team, could you share a few details?
- Which Antigravity surface and version you’re using (for example, Antigravity App v2.28.2, Antigravity IDE v2.6.0, IDE Extension v1.10.0, or Antigravity CLI v1.4.12), along with your OS.
- When the switch happens—does it occur mid-session while you’re actively chatting, after your machine wakes from sleep, after restarting or opening a new window, or when a browser tab pops up for re-authentication?
- Any error messages or terminal/app logs from around the time the account switches.
One thing to check in the meantime: if a browser window opens during a background token refresh or re-auth and auto-selects your browser’s default Google account, signing in using a separate browser profile where your paid Google account is the primary/default account can prevent the browser from handing back the wrong account’s session. Also, if you’re on an older build, updating to the latest release for your surface will ensure you have the latest session and keychain persistence fixes.

I would say mid-session and perhaps when awakes - it just did now when I reopened it several hours after last using it.
There are no visible errors
Gemini told me that it was linked to me using gcloud with the account it switches to. It suggested that ~/.config/gcloud/configurations/config_default was to blame - it did indeed point to my non-AI account which I use for work and where we use gcloud. So I edited that and it still refers to my AI account now, but Antigravity had changed to the work account (non-AI) since, so this was not a fix in fact
I’m also 99% certain that I logged out of antigravity earlier this morning, but did not log in in between times.
Then recently I had to reinstall gcloud for my work account (non-AI)
And now I see that antigravity is logged in as the work account
I’m not asserting causality, because antigravity had a means to change account already, but noting this chain of events
but could it not be a keychain issue?
At least on ubuntu, AG will prefer credentials from the keychain over the ones stored as a file.
I played around a bit with my personal acc a few weeks ago, running it with home/xdg pointing to a different local user.
It still used my work account though, and i had to pass a empty dbus address to force it to not attempt to use the keychain.
Im not super familiar with how macos handles it, but if it keeps jumping between credential sources that could explain it?
Maybe try the oauth tokens in .gemini/* and see if it works?
I could not find any oAuth tokens in .gemini
The issue repeated again
- I logged out of my account in AG
- Closed AG
- Spent the day doing my day job in WebStorm
- Saw your reply and opened AG
- I think I saw some sort of flicker in the UI, as though it was reconnecting to a google account
- I opened the settings to see what their state was and saw the bad account being used
Needless to say this makes AntiGravity very frustrating to use
Working with Gemini I did the following and it seems to have fixed things
- Remove stray ADC credentials: Delete
~/.config/gcloud/application_default_credentials.jsonso Antigravity cannot fall back to background work accounts. - Clear cached session state: Back up or remove
~/.geminiand clear~/Library/Application Support/Antigravity/User/globalStorage. - Reset in-app state: Open the Command Palette (
Cmd + Shift + P) and runAntigravity: Reset Onboarding. - Re-authenticate cleanly: Complete the browser sign-in using an Incognito/Private window logged strictly into the target subscription account.
