Antigravity 2.0 breaks core developer tools

Google keeps making huge promises in the AI IDE/vibe coding race, but almost every update somehow removes features developers actually use.

The new Antigravity 2.0 update honestly feels like a downgrade.

  • The proper IDE experience is gone and replaced with a chat-first UI.

  • Terminal access is removed.

  • Extensions, configs, keybinds, and history got wiped for many users.

  • Git workflow is now unnecessarily complicated.

  • The AI agent gets too much file control and changes things without enough transparency.

  • Even Flash quota gets exhausted insanely fast.

And the biggest issue:
Why are developers being forced into blind “vibe coding”?

Even people who like AI-assisted coding still want visibility into files, terminals, branches, and workflows. After some time you literally start wondering:
“What is the agent even doing?”

Feels like Google is assuming Gemini is powerful enough that devs no longer need proper tooling or control over their own projects.

This update seriously needs reconsideration.
I honestly feel sometimes shifting to a new IDE any opensource IDE I could try ?
