  • Use case: Real-time bidirectional voice AI for a multilingual phone receptionist system (inbound phone calls via SIP/LiveKit, six languages, live conversational booking). Currently running on the standard Gemini API (API key auth) and requesting Vertex AI access primarily for the higher Vertex AI Live API concurrency ceiling versus the Gemini Developer API’s per-project limit, and to authenticate via a GCP service account instead of a raw API key.
  • Current error received: APIError 1008 — “Publisher model projects/avacallix/locations/us-central1/publishers/google/models/gemini-3.8-live was not found or your project does not have access to it” — when attempting to connect via Vertex AI’s Live API endpoint. Confirmed this is specific to gemini-3.8-live: the same service account and project successfully connects to gemini-live-2.5-flash-native-audio on Vertex AI right now, so billing, IAM roles, and the Vertex AI API itself are all already correctly configured — only the gemini-3.8-live allowlist entry is missing.
