Hello Google AI Studio Support,
I have an active Google AI Pro subscription, and my Google AI Studio account displays the PRO label.
However, when I use Build mode to develop my existing ITQAN application, I receive the message:
“You’ve reached your limit for the day, you can wait for it to reset or upgrade to continue.”
The Gemini API Usage and Rate Limit pages show “Free tier” for my project.
I understand that Google AI subscription benefits and Gemini API billing tiers may be separate. Could you please clarify:
-
Which specific quota is blocking my Build-mode workflow?
-
Is my Google AI Pro subscription correctly recognized for AI Studio Build?
-
When will the Build-mode limit reset?
-
Is there a way to continue using my existing project without purchasing additional API access unnecessarily?
I would appreciate your help identifying the cause before I make any billing changes.
Thank you.
Hello,
Please try the below steps:
- Start a new chat in your existing app in AI Studio Build mode instead of retrying in the same conversation thread (your existing application files remain intact).
- When daily baseline subscription quotas are reached in AI Studio, link a paid Gemini API key from a Cloud Billing-enabled project in the Build chat settings Usage section to continue on pay-per-request usage (Google AI plans, Google AI Studio billing FAQ).
- If you are using the subscription quota without a paid API key linked, please let us know if the error still shows up even after 24 hours.
- If the issue persists after starting a new chat, please share your Applet ID, Project ID, and a screenshot of the Build chat settings Usage section via direct message.
To answer your questions:
- Daily usage limits in Google AI Studio reset at midnight Pacific Time (PT).
- Google AI Pro subscription allowances apply to the AI Studio web interface and are separate from the Gemini API project’s Cloud Billing tier, which is why the Rate Limit and Usage pages show “Free tier” when no billing account is linked to that project.
