Subject: AI Studio Build agent quota error while Gemini 3 chat works — Paid Tier 1
I have an active Paid Tier 1 Google Cloud project, linked to an active billing
account with a $250 billing-tier cap and available funds.
In Google AI Studio, normal Gemini 3 chat works correctly using my account.
However, AI Studio Build consistently returns:
“Quota exceeded. Please try again later.”
The failure occurs immediately when I enter a trivial Build request, such as:
“Create a simple web page with one heading that says Hello World.”
The app has not been previewed, run, or deployed. Therefore, no application-side
Make. com webhooks, Firebase/Firestore operations, hosting activity, or runtime Gemini
API calls are involved.
Tests and observations:
- Incognito/private browser test: same Build failure
- Normal Gemini 3 chat in AI Studio: works
- AI Studio billing status: Paid Tier 1
- Billing account: active; $250 tier cap; funds available
- Total API requests, input tokens, output tokens, and requests per model:
all below displayed limits
- Project ID: [PROJECT_ID]
- Failure date/time/time zone: [DATE, TIME, EDT]
This suggests AI Studio Build/Code Assistant is not receiving the same paid
project/billing entitlement as normal Gemini chat, or a separate Build-agent quota
is incorrectly exhausted.
Please identify the precise quota metric, service, and consumer project used for
the failing Build-agent request and investigate/reset the Build-agent entitlement.

hi why do you only DM and not directly mention the issue here, so that people can know? everyone is experiencing the bug. i have quota too bur it keeps getting this error after the agent runs for 500 to 600 seconds or more, which is not supposed to happen because earlier versions could do this without timing out or quota exceeded. this is a bug with quota exceeded because we are within quota. can you acknowledge the issue here as well, rather than just sending DMs, so the public can know whats going on?
Hi, I’m experiencing the same AI Studio Build issue.
My main Build project failed twice with:
Quota exceeded. Please try again later.
after approximately:
To rule out project size/history/code, I created a brand-new empty app and sent only:
Create a simple page that displays only the text "Test".
That also failed with the same Quota exceeded error after 547 seconds.
I checked the AI Studio API Usage dashboard, and it does not show current API usage anywhere near an exhausted quota.
This strongly suggests the issue is specific to AI Studio Build/Agent rather than the normal Gemini API quota.
Could you please clarify:
- which exact quota/service is being exceeded?
- whether Build has a separate quota that is not visible in the API Usage dashboard?
- whether this could be an account entitlement/backend issue?
- when the quota resets, if it is a real account limit?

I am experiencing the same issue on Paid Tier 1.
Google AI Studio Build repeatedly returns:
“Quota exceeded. Please try again later.”
My Build Agent runs have also terminated after approximately 570–575 seconds with messages such as:
“Encountered retryable error from model provider: Agent execution terminated due to error.”
I checked the Gemini API Rate Limit dashboard. RPM and RPD are well below their limits. I also waited and retried, but the issue persists.
I then started a completely new chat inside the same AI Studio Build project and sent only a very small request. It immediately resulted in the same “Quota exceeded” error.
Normal project development was working previously. The problem currently prevents me from making any further changes through the Build Agent.
This appears very similar to the issue described in this thread.
Could the Google AI Studio team please check whether there is a Build Agent / model-provider quota or entitlement issue affecting my account?

I am experiencing a persistent issue with the AI Studio Build Agent.
Project:
khalwaz-medicals
Billing:
Paid Tier 1
My normal Gemini API quota is well below the published limits.
However, Build repeatedly terminates with:
“Quota exceeded. Please try again later.”
Recent failures:
- approximately 577 seconds
- approximately 592 seconds
- previous runs also failed around 519–633 seconds
This happens even after reducing the task to a small continuation request.
The app itself and previously completed changes remain available, but I cannot continue development through the Build Agent.
Could you please check the Build/Agent entitlement or backend quota for my account/project?

- timestamps of failed runs

Hi, I am experiencing the same issue on the Free tier after officially migrating my application from Firebase Studio to Google AI Studio.
The application itself works correctly in Preview, including Firebase Authentication and the existing Firebase data, but the AI Studio Build agent repeatedly returns:
“Quota exceeded. Please try again later.”
I waited more than 24 hours and tested again, including with a very simple request that did not require any code changes. The same error persists.
Build shows Gemini 3.8 Flash, and some attempts eventually end with “Ran for 0s.”
My Rate Limits page still shows available quota for Gemini 3.8 Flash:

TPM: 0 / 250K
-
RPD: 0 / 20
This appears to be a Build/Agent quota or entitlement issue rather than the visible Gemini API quota.
Could the Google AI Studio team please check the Build Agent entitlement/quota for my account/application?
