Account restricted to AQ. keys after accidental exposure — requesting AIza restoration

Hi Google AI Team,

I am a hobbyist developer and I’m currently experiencing an issue where my account can no longer generate standard AIza prefix API keys in Google AI Studio. All newly created keys are generating with the AQ. prefix, which are failing with authentication errors in my local web app workflow.

Context: I accidentally exposed my previous API key in an AI chat prompt while troubleshooting some code.

Remediation: > * I immediately realized the mistake and permanently deleted/revoked the compromised key in AI Studio.

  • I have moved all credentials to a local .env file to ensure my environment is fully secure going forward.

Could someone please review my account and restore standard AIza key generation? Thank you!
Steve

We are moving away from Traffic keys (Alza) and towards a more secure Authentication Key (AQ). AI Studio will now only generate Authentication Key (AQ) keys. More information on key usage can be found in the Using Gemini API keys documentation.

Please submit any compatibility issues with services / SDKs etc. in this form for our engineering team to review. Thanks!
