Maybe I’m paranoid, but it really seems to have something to do with politics. The latest competition about Gemini (Gemini in Chrome) is hosted on Devpost, which bans some Asian countries and some countries related to Russia. And the final results of the Gemini API Competition are: NO ASIAN (Japan is Asian, but they’re a first-world country, so that doesn’t count), NO INDIA, NO SOUTH AMERICAN, despite the dominance of submissions from those regions.
