Using Pay-as-you-go before May 30 2024

I want to keep my prompts/responses private.

Under “Get API key”, if I see “Paid” and “Go to billing” under “Plan”, does it mean I am already on Pay-as-you-go?

I used 1.5 Pro earlier today in Google AI Studio but my billing account does not show a charge? As I recall, Gemini API Pricing  |  Google for Developers showed that charging would start from May 14. Does charging start from May 30 now, as the page shows? Or is usage in Google AI Studio considered free tier and not payable?

For Vertex, 定價  |  Generative AI on Vertex AI  |  Google Cloud shows “New pricing for Vertex AI Gemini 1.5 Flash and Gemini 1.5 Pro will take effect on June 14, 2024.” What is the current pricing?

That is answered by this email from GoogleDevelopers-noreply@google .com

Dear Gemini API Developer,

We’re writing to inform you that we are introducing a lower-cost tier for Gemini 1.5 Pro as detailed on our pricing page. As a result, billing for 1.5 Pro is being delayed until May 30, 2024.

Starting May 14, 2024:

As previously communicated, projects with Cloud Billing enabled will be billed for Gemini 1.0 Pro requests through Gemini API. Your interactions with Gemini models directly within Google AI Studio will remain free of charge.

Note: Note: This communication relates to the Gemini API from Google AI for Developers (referred to as Generative Language API in the Cloud Console) and does not relate to the Vertex AI Gemini API.

I would like to know if my prompts/responses are private or will be used for training I use Gemini 1.5 Pro through API now.

Hi!
Your prompts and the generated responses will not be used for training.

When you’re using Paid Services, Google doesn’t use your prompts (including associated system instructions, cached content, and files such as images, videos, or documents) or responses to improve our products,

Note that this information is from the terms of service for paid services

Gemini API I am using is 1.0
Like you, I see that 1.5 starts charging from May 30, so if I use 1.5 now, will I be charged the same as 1.0?

@Logan_Kilpatrick has been explaining it, because the transition can be confusing, so he might correct my statement. In the period up to May 30, for Gemini 1.0 all is as it was. For Gemini 1.5, there is no option available to enable billing. Therefore, your data and responses will be used by Google to improve the model if you choose to use Gemini 1.5 before May 30.
