I was wondering could it be related to multiple open google logins? If u have logged to Gemini in Mobile app and Laptop at the same time. Have not tested yet, but I think my problems started after installing Mobile app??? Before that I was using only Laptop and problem did not exist…

I came here to say that I am having the exact same issue.
It appears that uploading your file to Google Drive and then attaching it from there works as @cubesat mentioned. It’s an okay workaround for now.
