I’m experiencing a theme rendering bug in AI Studio on mobile. My phone’s system is set to Dark Theme, but I use a Light Theme in my Chrome browser.
Ever since the new Gemini 2.5 models appeared, the AI Studio UI has become unreadable due to a theme conflict (see attached screenshots). It seems to be mixing the dark system theme with the light browser theme. Before this update, everything worked perfectly.
Switching my browser to a dark theme fixes it, but I’d prefer to keep my browser light. Could you please fix this so that AI Studio respects the browser’s theme settings again?
Hey @user1774— thanks for pointing this out, and you’re absolutely right to expect consistent theme behavior.
What you’re experiencing sounds like a theme detection conflict where AI Studio is prioritizing the system-level dark mode over the browser’s light mode, leading to a mismatched and unreadable UI. This kind of issue can definitely make the interface hard to use, especially on mobile.
Ideally, AI Studio should:
- Respect the browser’s theme setting when rendering the UI.
- Provide a manual theme toggle in the app itself so users can override automatic detection.
Switching the browser to dark mode is a workaround, but not a solution — especially if your preference is to keep Chrome in light mode. Hopefully the Gemini team can patch this soon and restore proper theme handling.
Thanks again for reporting this — it’s a small bug with a big impact on usability!
