@Logan_Kilpatrick, I’m reporting that Gemini 2.5 Pro disappeared from the model selector in AI Studio today, September 18, 2026. It was still there at noon and was gone by 5:32 PM HKT. This affects paid plan users too.
- Expected Behavior: The official documentation outlines that a scheduled retirement date is not specified. The model should remain fully accessible.
- Actual behavior: Gemini 2.5 Pro is completely absent from the model selector dropdown. Searching for it manually returns nothing except the TTS audio variants.
- Workflow Impact: Consistent access to the exact model version I am developing with is highly important. The sudden removal actively disrupts my current development timeline.
- Community Impact: Other users on the Build with Google AI Forum are experiencing and reporting this same issue today.

This is Highly unacceptable from Google Side. So much arbitrary decision, There is no deprecation date announced for Gemini 2.5 Pro in their Website. Brother, there is no retirement planned as of now as per their website. They removed their earlier date. But still they deprecated the model without any notification!
Even with Paid Plans, It is not available that’s the Problem. I am an Ultra Subscriber. They already made models like Gemini 2.5 Pro behind the payment wall available only to paid subscribers. But currently the model is itself not available which is contradicting their retirement plan mentioned in their website. There is no stable recommended replacement model available for Gemini 2.5 pro, Hence this is highly unacceptable.
I am using the paid plan and I can’t even access it, bro.
I’m still waiting on a reply.

I was chatting to their support, nobody knows anything about Gemini 2.5 pro deprecation there. But they obviously switched it off. All my threads in playground workspace were frozen and the model picker disappeared too. And it happened becauset Gemini 2.5 pro was silently switched off. If you click on the blank area where a model picker should be the model list appears and you can choose Gemini 3.1 and after that all this blank settings section reappears.
So, the main question is WHERE IS GEMINI 2.5 PRO MODEL WE ARE PAYING FOR?
Welcome to Google, they do everything without warning.From what I’ve seen, they discontinued the Pro plan for Pro users because only a higher-tier Pro plan unlocks the Pro model. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. They claim that 3.8 Flash is superior to 3.1 Pro, which was leaked at the time I researched it, mainly because the technology costs were very high.
I found this video; put it in English, it explains the reasons too.
But 3.1 pro model is still there, only 2.5 pro disappeared. But maybe there is somebody with a higher-tier subscription like Ultra or something similar, who can tell us whether 2.5 pro is available there or not.
I still highly believe this is a technical glitch which will be resolved soon. If otherwise, the model has been deprecated. Then the Google is the worst consumer friendly AI Platform. Claude, ChatGpt always gives a enough space before deprecating their old models. This is hampering all our tasks we planned out!
But they could announce it on their Google AI Studio page. Still there they are fully operational. And it’s very suspicious that all models are on their places except 2.5 pro.
Deprecations are not announced on AI Studio Status Page. I have shared the link above, details regarding deprecations & replacement model are hosted in that only officially by Google.
There’s no deprecation date yet. I highly believe this might be a mistake.
Different models have different strengths.
Gemini 2.5 has a place in a multi model context. I shuffle it in when I need a looser imagination, less task oriented and more ideating or reviewing analysis of the 3.x series, which tend to re-orient the context to a task when asked to review their own analysis.
Model diversity is healthy and useful.
I hope we can maintain 2.5 even as some of the earlier 3 Series models are depreciated. Thanks!

For your new projects, please use our latest models : 3.5 Flash-Lite or 3.8 Flash.
This helps us maintain sufficient capacity for both ongoing legacy workflows and new applications
