Yeah very familiar faces.
Will be interesting on how this community will differ from the other one. I’m guessing (hoping) it to be much more developer focused topics and discussions.

100%, we all have a great deal to offer and to gain, so I really do hope that this goes developer, developer, developer
I completely agree with this. Keeping the content interesting and having members active and engaged is probably a better metric of success at the early stages than the volume of members.
That’s a standard discourse setting, it’s basically in effect on all discourse forums, but the workaround here is just to add a .
somewhere in the text and removing the full:True
tag from the quote:
Look here and see for yourselves
I do too:
1000% true, but defining what it actually means to be active and engaged is much harder than just counting heads, so I went for the easy option
That’s something I would normally do.
We could always go by the number of posts and replies. If members are engaged we’re bound to see a lot more of them.
I’m just doing my bit here to spike up the numbers
I believe that the biggest issue for growth here is that no one knows it exists. I have used Gemini for a bit but never heard about this forum until I was given a hyperlink. I think there could be 100k+ users in 6 months if it is more broadly advertised, like at Google’s I/O.
Here are some places I think it would be great to advertise this forum (I am going to make this into a separate topic later).
With a banner here:
Or with the Documentation and Discord server (I think it should definitely be here):
agreed! stay tuned we are launching some of this starting this week
There’s a lof of confusion stemning from the google ecosystem being quiet big, and for new people it might be a bit daunting.
There’s also an availability issue, Google AI studio is not available in my region (EU/Danmark), and because of that I’m redirected to a page telling me that that, and showing my a list of supported languages, which includes “Danish”, making it quite confusing
I can still use the API though, but I need to be careful about which region I set for my server instance.
Before I do that, I will need to create a new project over on Google cloud, because if I don’t, all the API will be connected to whatever project I had going last time.
All of this is fairly complicated compared to just “click here 4 API key” → pip install some-sdk
→ profit
Much of this confusion can be fixed with proper documentation, and the cookbook launch is a massive leap in the right direction.
Agreed, discord is good if you have 10 gamer friends you need to voice chat with, but actually horrible for basically anything else
We are working hard to land EU/Europe support soon! Stay tuned : )
We are going to start pointing people here!
That sounds absolutely amazing
I’m so excited to see what y’all have been working on! But in the meantime I would humbly suggest just adding some links directly to the vertex playground for EU people to play with
It looks like it’s only been 20 hours but I feel already late to the party
Congrats on a new community launch!
Your not late, you’re just fashionably on time
You’re still early to the big party though, that begins when the horde arrives.
Welcome @Diet!
I also find it very amusing and kinda ironic that I pitched a hackathon idea right before Logan left (to here it seems), and of all companies Google here is doing the very thing I was trying to encourage. I swear @N2U made a joke about this .
For the folks here whom I don’t yet know listening to feedback on this site:
Other than all that, can we all just take a second to recognize the value we bring (and are bringing) to the frontiers of AI? I can’t help but to feel in awe about what our little community A-team has done and how it’s grown, and how we’re able to take our skills and knowledge with us wherever we go. The potential is absolutely immense!
LuL I did make a joke about this, might have done it in a private conversation, but can’t really remember the details, I was much more focused on the core of the idea being great.
I’ve said it before, but you can’t have a community without the people, if you don’t have the people you just have a platform

Did you just scrape it, or do we actually have user API keys enabled?
I just scraped it, but I am going to check in a minute if we have API keys enabled for TL-3.
Yeah I was thinking about that earlier too, having user API keys enabled is super handy for this, but it’s not the default option.
