For the last month, I have been unable to upload files in aistudio, no matter which model I select. Most of the files won’t upload, including ppt, word. it says “The current model doesn’t support files of this type.”. I am using EDGE browser. But I used to be able to upload files, strangely enough, I didn’t have to do anything extra. What’s wrong with it? I’m very sad. Because of this problem I had to give up using gemini and switch to deepseek.
rename the file to .txt—Gemini is smart enough to figure it out

Hey @YINGFEI_PAN , As per the documentation, ppt and word files are not in the supported list. Please check the documentation for supported MIME types.

Just because it’s in the docs doesn’t make it less wrong, simple plain text files like .razor are also not support ARBITRARILY, WHY? Gemini handles the mixed code in .razor files wonderfully. Can you guys please turn it into a mime type black list instead of a white list? And to the person who made this decision at google: You ACTIVELY made the product worse, good job.
