Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out from the engineering leadership side to get definitive strategic clarity regarding the recent structural changes to Google Antigravity (AGY) and Gemini Enterprise. Following the updates around July 7th, our development workflow has experienced severe feature regressions that are actively impacting our technical roadmap and team alignment.
We need explicit answers on the product strategy, upcoming feature parity, and timeline expectations to evaluate whether we maintain our current commitment to Gemini Enterprise and AGY, or transition our engineering team to alternative ecosystems.
Core Architecture & Feature Regressions
Our primary concerns center on three major regressions affecting our enterprise deployment:
-
Enterprise IDE Accessibility: The sudden retraction of the dedicated IDE support for Enterprise tiers has disrupted our established developer environment. While there are unofficial indications that an IntelliJ and VS Code plugin ecosystem is slated for release in the coming weeks, the complete lack of formal documentation or timeline guarantees makes it impossible to plan against.
-
Model Restrictions: The transition of Workspace users away from AI Ultra to the Extended tier has severed critical AGY support. Furthermore, removing external models (e.g., Anthropic family models) has significantly degraded the multi-model flexibility that originally made AGY an elite orchestration layer.
-
Vertex AI Integration Breakdown: We have transitioned our entire engineering team to Gemini Enterprise and explicitly enabled Vertex AI models on the Google Cloud side. Despite this backend configuration, absolutely none of these models are exposed or selectable within the AGY Agent Manager UI.
Enterprise Value Inversion
Looking closely at the published matrix at Google Antigravity , there is a stark and counter-intuitive inversion of value. Enterprise tiers paying significant premiums are currently constrained to a highly restricted feature set compared to standard consumer/Gmail accounts.
When Google dropped AI Ultra for Enterprise, the communicated trajectory implied that AGY would evolve into a powerful, flexible orchestration layer where enterprises could bring their own Vertex AI models to execute complex, multi-agent workflows. The reality of the current version feels fundamentally broken; in fact, the degradation of the Agent Manager and IDE capabilities has led our development team to begin abandoning AGY entirely in favor of competing developer tools.
Needed Deliverables from Product Management
To stabilize our operations, we require direct communication from the product team on the following points:
-
The Enterprise Roadmap: What is the exact timeline for exposing Vertex AI and external model routing inside the AGY Agent Manager for Enterprise accounts?
-
Plugin Deployment: What are the definitive release dates, capabilities, and enterprise support structures for the upcoming IntelliJ and VS Code IDE extensions?
-
Documentation Alignment: When will the public-facing documentation and internal Gemini knowledge bases be rectified to accurately reflect the true state of the enterprise roadmap, rather than providing conflicting or outdated information?
The product went from a world-class, agent-first environment to an incredibly fragmented toolset in the span of two weeks. We need to know if the enterprise developer ecosystem is a priority, and exactly what the roadmap looks like so we can make an informed, data-driven decision for our business.
Looking forward to a detailed breakdown from the PM team.
