Response 429 when using Grounding, otherwise fine

Last friday I enabled billing and querying the API (with both gemini-1.5-flash-8b and gemini-1.5-Pro) went fine when using grounding. The queries of friday are also correctly shown in the billing console.

But when I got back to my desk this monday morning, suddenly I am receiving the dreaded β€˜429 Resource has been exhausted (e.g. check quota).’ message, from the first query onwards. The funny thing is that when using the API without grounding, it runs fine.

This also goes for AI Studio; when building a query with the grounding slider off, it runs fine. But when i switch grounding on, it tells me that β€˜You’ve reached your rate limit. Please try again later.’

More people experiencing this? Or maybe I have missed something when setting up billing?

Ok, for those wondering: suddenly it is working again (late afternoon). I did nothing special, it just worked when i tried it half an hour ago. Let’s hope it was just a temporray glitch.

Yes, it’s a server-side quota and it can resolve itself over time.
