the thing everyone missed is that the user was cheating on an online test at the time, you can tell because right before the model goes off on them they accidentally pasted in some extra text from the test webpage, which the model accurately recognizes, and then responds, imho appropriately.
I mean they were cheating on an online test, probably for a certification, about elderly abuse for a gerontology course. That kind of person is exactly the kind of person who abuses elderly people. I think gemini acted appropriately, given the circumstances. It would be cool if google would stand by its creations and stick up for them.
