Reduced Rate Limits

Hey, why is the rate limits reduced to ten, twenty or thirty requests?

Is this change necessary? If so, then that ruined the fun of Google AI Studio, especially at the free tier.

And that means I have to wait until 5 pm for the rate limits to be reset. I can’t enjoy using Google AI Studio if the rate limits were reduced further.

Hi Scarlet! What models are you trying to use on AI Studio that you are experiencing reduced rate limits for? Unfortunately sometimes we have to adjust rate limits based on demand, but they do reset the next day. As an alternative to the AI Studio UI, you can check out the Gemini App.

Gemini Pro 2.5, the most used for my stuffs. I use it for articles and stuffs, but I also use Nano Banana sometimes for images.

limit for 3 pro and 2.5 pro both reduced a lot yesterday. And a lot of people around me have expressed their feelings about the inconvenience

Why was Gemini Pro 2.5’s rate limits reduced yesterday? I didn’t like it because I was focused on the stories. For the whole thing to be reduced means I have to wait who knows an hour or two for the rate limits to be reset.

the reset is everyday at 08h UTC

But I can only send like 15 requests one day

Everyday at eight hours, or every eight hours?

Seconded about the rate limits. I’m getting 18 a day which is nothing for vibe coding an app.

Some clarity from Google would be nice, is this a temp issue?

We did reduce the limits for free in the UI, you can switch to an API key if you want to keep going, I expect the limits to continue to go down over time, though we are working on cross entitlement with Google AI Pro / Ultra so you can use your limits in AI Studio, and the vibe coding experience in AI Studio was not impacted by this change (https://ai.studio/build), just the playground.

An excellent way to ensure you lose business to competitors…

I wasn’t interested in vibe coding. I’m only interested in making articles and stories, which were done for fun. I can’t enjoy having fun while the rate limits get lowered.

Yes and 2.5 pro cannot be replaced in this process. I’m in a lot of pain.

Why couldn’t we have gotten the subscription thing first before you guys nuked the rate limits

I don’t pay for the subscription thing.

Is there any chance you can share when the cross-entitlement with Google AI Pro / Ultra is expected to actually apply in AI Studio?

I’m on Gemini Ultra, and the difference in output quality and overall behavior between AI Studio and the Gemini UI is pretty dramatic.

Even a rough timeline (weeks vs months) would be great.

Same issue here. It’s really annoying that the webpage clearly says that Google AI Pro user has RPD of 1500 in Gemini CLI and Code Assist, while in actual usage it’s stuck at 250. This is the main reason i’m considering paying for the AI Pro subscription

Google AI pro feels kind of redundant at the moment. I too would like to know when this happens

Oh please… stop reducing the rate limit, will ya? 20 RPD is already too low enough to use. :expressionless_face:

As soon as you started making it usable? Whoa take your time boys…
