I’m experiencing the same thing too. On paid tier, billing is active and set unlimited but until today I think the new Google AI Studio updates have some sort of either throttling or error on the API.
Me too, I’m using a Paid Account, but I can ONLY make 2,3 requests per day. Then the quota exceeds. This error has happened for nearly 2 weeks.
REALLY DISAPOINTED WITH GOOGLE.
If I hadn’t already built a major project with Google AI Studio, I would have switched to another AI platform by now
I want to add my voice to this. I have created a new project, created a new paid Tier 1 API key, assigned it to my app in Google AI Studio, in both the Chat Settings Max Mode section and in the Secrets section, checked the biling, limits, rates etc. and I just get stuck on every query in the chat with “Quota exceeded. Please try again later.” Have reported this as a “bug” several times. Have tried to use Gemini to solve but so far nothing that will work in AI Studio. This does not even appear on Google AI Studio status dashboard. Pretty hopeless to roll out an “ugrade” that disables your paying customers. Has anyone got any evidence that Google are treating this with any sense of urgency? Gemini suggests that it is likely to be solved by the end of the week - even if that happens, that will be 10 days of being able to make no progress using a paid API. I am also unimpressed that there is no feedback from Google on this forum.
I don’t think the folks at Google are paying any attention to this. It’s frustrating and a big turn off.
Tons of credits, but unable to use the platform.
I’ve been having the same problem for days, and yesterday my payment bill arrived. I noticed that all my orders that resulted in an exceeded quota were charged normally.
I am experiencing this issue right now. Anyone who was able to solve it?
Same here. Paid Tier. API Connected. Google needs to address this or fix it ASAP. Might consider migrating all my projects elsewhere
Same issue with me too. Sometimes I get quota exceeded and sometimes this other error:
Very frustrating to see that it has still not been resolved after couple of weeks. My entire workflow has slowed down.
Has anyone solved this issue? I’m so frustrated. Nothing has changed so far.
Btw, I’m wondering why only 39 users posts about this issue. If all users who pay Google as pay-as-you-go, this problem must be biggest issue for Google. No announcement from Google so far as long as I understand.
Is this a tiny issue for few users? Is there any specific condition that makes this problem happen? I mean NOT ALL OF paid users are encountering this problem?
Google AI Studio was heavily promoted, which encouraged many teams to build on top of it. Now that developers have onboarded and integrated it into their products, the service keeps leaving people stuck.
Some teams are in the middle of product launches, others are trying to fix critical bugs, yet development is blocked. What’s especially frustrating is that we are receiving “quota exceeded” errors even when their usage is clearly well below the stated limits.
This issue has been happening repeatedly for weeks without clear resolution or communication. When developers rely on a platform for production work, stability and transparency are essential. It would be helpful to understand what’s causing these quota errors and when we can expect a reliable fix.
I am experiencing this issue right now.
It’s truly absurd, you’re using a paid account and the API is denying access. And you know what’s worse? I tried countless times and after I stopped, I discovered that even though it said “Quota exceeded. Please try again later,” when I checked the cost, it kept increasing for hours without any usage. In other words, there’s still an error where the attempts are reflecting usage. I had to file a complaint with support to have the costs assessed, and I’ll still have to pay for not being able to use it. Beware!
Why don’t we move to Google Antigravity? I tried it today, it’s far better than AI Studio.
I deeply regret Google Antigravity is also GOOGLE!!
All you have to do is simple.
- Download your source from f**king AI Studio by zip file.
- Download and setup Antigravity
- Open Antigravity
- Talk to AI using Claude Opus 4.6(Thinking) <= Don’t select Gemini
That’s it. Antigravity do all things.
Its does look like they are on the case now re. these quota errors, it’s on the status page!
Increased error rates for model quota.
Detected Issue has been detected involving increased quota errors for multiple models. Investigation is underway.

I like AI studio shows a live preview. Does Antigravity do that too?
I think I’ve resolved the issue in two ways:
-
Launching Gemini or AI Studio in an incognito window
-
Clearing all browser caches
There seems to be a large amount of cached data in my regular browser. I first tried opening AI Studio in an incognito window, and it worked immediately — no more “quota exceeded” alerts!
Yes, I’ve fixed it. Please try these two methods:
-
Open Gemini or AI Studio in an incognito window
-
Clear all browser cache
There seems to be excessive cached data in the browser. I first tried using an incognito window for AI Studio, and it worked right away — no more “quota exceeded” alerts!
I was developing an application that uses Type Script/SQLite and it worked in Google Cloud (via AI Studio), when I asked Antigravity he could modify/enhance everything for my application.
Antigravity recommended to build my application in my PC. He did everything I needed in my PC, install required libraries, all configurations, database creation, etc. All you have to do is just to approve his action. I could build my application in my PC for almost 30 minutes. And Claude is keeping doing modification/enhancement of my application. So far so good. No quota issue any more, Claude is much smarter than Gemini in terms of programing. Even if I could come up with current issue on AI Studio, I would never go back there. I will select Antigravity for my first choice in the future. One concern is that the programs Antigravity develops would only be in your PC. So you will need many resources for that. Antigravity will propose best solution for your requirement though. Actually I hate AI Studio’s AI behavior.
Yes, after deleting browser cache, it looks working now. I’m not sure which makes a difference browser cache clearance or Google Update though. Good-bye AI Studio.
