Permission denied on API key creation / project listing — personal Gmail account

Hello Google AI Studio Team,

I’m unable to generate a Gemini API key due to a persistent permission error affecting my personal Gmail account.

Account type: Personal Gmail
Intended use: Personal development / learning (Free Tier, no billing)

Issue details:

  • In Google AI Studio, I get: “Failed to list models: permission denied. Please try again.”
  • In Google Cloud Console, I get: “Failed to list projects: permission denied. Please try again.”
  • I do have an existing Google Cloud project (“Jarvis”) visible in the project selector, but selecting it does not resolve the issue.
  • The “Create API Key” button is visible but key creation still fails with the same permission error.
  • I initially also got “Project creation is disabled. Please try again later.” when trying to create a new project.

I have no history of policy violations on this account. Could you please review my account and clear any automated restriction so I can access the Gemini API Free Tier as intended?

Thank you for your help.

Hello @Houssam_Khaldi ,

We have recently rolled out a mandatory age verification initiative across signed-in customers globally, Accounts that have not completed explicit date-of-birth/identity verification should do so by navigating to Google Account Age Verification or verifying date of birth in Google Account Personal Info."

Also, disconnect any VPN, proxy, or iCloud Private Relay and access AI Studio directly.

Make sure you are accessing AI Studio from one of the supported regions

After completing these steps, please try again in a few hours, If you still face issues, please let us know.
