Nano Banana 2 generates images in JPEG format, although I remember them being PNG before. Nano Banana Pro uses JPEG as well. Now, only Nano Banana can provide PNG format. What happened? I feel that compressing the images is causing more computational usage.
Hi Tens,
The change was based mostly on users stating a preference of JPEG.
Hi, thanks for the reply. Maybe batch or business users prefer the JPEG format, but not everyone wants that. Since the price of Nano Banana Pro is not cheap, I would like to get a lossless image. It’s understandable to output JPEG by default, but there should be an option, such as a MIME type field. I heard Vertex AI users can choose PNG or JPEG; AI Studio users deserve the same treatment.
