Looking for an international team for the competition

LOOKING FOR A DEV TEAM?

Hi,
I am not used to forums but well… Bear with me (please).

I am a full-stack software engineer based in Amsterdam looking for a team to absolutely NAIL!!! this competition. With my brain alone I think I can go somewhere, but, with multiple we can reach the sky and further.

I’m looking to either join an already existent team of like-minded individuals or to start one myself. If you’re also looking to start an open-source project for fun make sure to message me, I’ll leave my contacts below.

Oh and before I get bombarded with people thinking this is a job post, I am not looking for freelancers and neither am I one. Don’t expect pay and don’t expect having to pay, this is all for fun (and the sake of humanity).

I am simply trying to make new friends and work as a team together on the same hobby and I thought that posting about it in a forum would be most appropriate.

Feel free to message!

PS. although it’s mainly fun & games, I am planning on winning.

Hello, the competition rules state:

apply as an individual, not as part of a group

So you would not be able to join the competition as part of a team.

Also check out the FAQ’s on the website. It looks like they prefer for you to join as an individual but you are allowed to work as a team. I think since one account registered is allowed only one submission you should be careful on who you work with. Google doesn’t seem to be responsible for division of prizes (per FAQ’s). So working as a team is allowed but eventually it’ll fall on one submission on one account. @grandell1234 @Art

My heart dropped reading @grandell1234 's reply.

Thank you for clearing that up! I already predicted that it would be something like that but you just confirmed it. Thx.

@grandell1234’s interpretation here is very literal, so just take it as a warning.

How many members per team?

We encourage collaboration! Teams of any size are welcome to participate in the Gemini API Developer Competition. While teams can work together, only the Google account used to submit the final project will be eligible to receive the prize. Google is not responsible for any agreements or disputes regarding prize splitting among team members. It is the sole responsibility of the winning team to determine and manage any prize distribution internally.

The point of this is, collaborate and have fun, but if you win, be prepared to figure out how to handle the division of the prize money (and good luck figuring out how to split a DeLorean if you win the grand prize). It’s an eye-watering amount of moolah, and people are going to get very weird about things once money is involved, especially if there’s no third party willing to intervene and keep the peace in case of conflict.

That being said, it’s all about collaborating with the right people . I can think of a few people I’ve come to know in these circles that I would trust well enough for this not to be an issue. But again, that’s because I’ve known them long enough to know their character.

Even if you don’t know any other devs (trust me, it took me many years to find other developer friends), places like this is a great way to get to know other folks :slightly_smiling_face:. You have 3 months; there is plenty of time to build and get to know people.

No worries mate, I have a 2 kilowatt angle grinder in my shed, do you want me to cut it front to back or passenger to driver?

Perfect! I got just the garage for this!

Let’s do front to back. Leader gets the engine, someone else can take the rear, and we can split the seats amongst the frontend developers.

perfect! It’s an electric DeLorean with AWD, so there should be engine’s enough for everyone
