It’s about **understanding how different Google Cloud and GenAI credits are applied, which services they cover, and how to ensure your AI Studio or Vertex AI usage consumes credits instead of real billing.

Hi everyone,

I’m new to Google Cloud and the Google AI ecosystem, and I recently noticed that I have two types of credits available in my billing account:

  1. Trial credit for GenAI App Builder

  2. Google Developer Program monthly credit (applicable to Google Cloud + Maps APIs)

I had a few questions and would really appreciate some clarification:

  • What specific services are covered under the GenAI App Builder trial credit?
Is it limited to certain tools (like Agent Builder / Search / RAG), or can it also be used with other AI services?

  • If I connect a project (for example from Google AI Studio) to this billing account, will usage consume these credits first, or will it start charging actual money?

  • If I want to intentionally use these credits, what is the correct approach?
Should I be using APIs via Vertex AI, or are there specific endpoints/services tied to GenAI App Builder credits?

  • Are there any best practices to ensure I don’t accidentally get billed beyond the credits?

I’m trying to understand how billing and credit consumption works across AI Studio, Vertex AI, and GenAI App Builder, especially as a beginner.

Thanks in advance for your help!
