Issue with Gemini API Usage Tracking and Free Credits Deduction

Hello Google Support Team,

I am writing to seek assistance regarding the usage tracking and billing for the Gemini API on my developer account.

I recently registered as a developer, generated an API key to test the Gemini models, and received free promotional credits. To ensure uninterrupted service (quotas), I also upgraded to a “Full account” and added a valid payment method. According to your FAQ, I understand that my free credits should automatically be applied to my usage first, and only after they are exhausted should my credit card be charged.

The Issue:
While my API key works perfectly and returns the expected results, my token consumption and API usage are not being reflected anywhere in my account.

  • My billing overview does not show any usage.

  • My free promotional credits are not being deducted.

  • There are no logs, metrics, or analytics showing the number of requests I have made or the specific model types I have queried.

My Concerns:

  1. Billing Priority & Expiration: I am completely in the dark about where my current usage will ultimately be billed from. Since my free credits are set to expire in June, I am worried they might expire before the system actually deducts my current API usage from them, which could result in unexpected charges to my credit card.

  2. Usage Visibility: Beyond billing, I need a clear overview of my API consumption (e.g., requests per model, token counts) to properly monitor and scale my project. Currently, this information is entirely missing.

Questions:

  • Is this a known platform issue/delay in reporting, or is there a misconfiguration on my end (e.g., something I missed in the Google Cloud Console / AI Studio)?

  • Can you confirm that my current usage will be covered by my active free credits as expected?

Thank you
