I am working on integrating Gemini into my application, and I wanted to introduce image search functionality today. However, I noticed that the responses returned by Gemini do not include any image searches and contain exclusively web searches, even when instructed to do so by the user or via the system prompt.
This is problematic because it suggests that Gemini fails to interpret which kind of tool to execute, and I suspect that the same issue would occur if I had to access other services such as Google Maps.
I am reporting this issue to gather feedback from other users who are possibly experiencing the same issue. I’m curious to know whether anyone was able to resolve it.
