I’m using Image Search Grounding with gemini-3.1-flash-image-preview (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image Preview / “Nano Banana 2”). The feature worked normally yesterday (Mon 2 March 2026), but today (Tue 3 March 2026) it returns zero grounding output all day.
Expected: When Image Search Grounding is enabled, the response should include grounding payload (e.g., grounding metadata / chunks / references/citations relevant to the image search grounding feature).
Actual: No image search grounding data is returned whatsoever (no grounding chunks / no grounding metadata). The model still generates output, but the grounding payload is completely missing on every request.
Same issue can be found in ai studio playground with image search turned on.
